Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club relies heavily on our team of dedicated volunteers who work in various capacities to keep the club running throughout the year. Our large family of volunteers enjoy the camaraderie and social side that has been created through working at the club, and we are always delighted to welcome new members to the team.
Pot Holers
This essential service is looked after by a group of retired folk whose sole purpose is to keep the track in top condition after track work. The Jockey Club is always looking for extra help with this very important activity. The pot holers work on Tuesday and Friday morning mornings from 8.30 am to 9.30 am.
Track and grounds maintenance
Our general track and grounds maintenance volunteers are involved with general track and grounds maintenance as well as a variety of duties on race day including:
- Mowing and whipper snipping
- General grounds work
- Alcohol service on race day
- Traffic control and car parking
- Gate entry control
- Assisting in Jockeys rooms
- Horse entry gate
- Chauffer service from carpark
Race day volunteer duties
The Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club race day volunteers look after a variety of services for the club both prior to and on race days including:
- Making drink ticket vouchers
- General cleaning and tidying
- Handing out posters locally
- Selling drink tickets & race books
- Front ticket box sales
- Coordinating raffles
- Managing pavilion seating
