In 2009 the first race meeting was held at the Tuncurry track attracting six and a half thousand patron’s, and to this day still boasting crowds of nothing less than eighteen hundred for most race meetings.
The Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club has now secured 5 TAB meetings per year. Racing over the summer months is good for the Club as the twin towns of Forster and Tuncurry attract 600,000 visitors. Last September the clubs Gold Cup meeting turned over $1.4 million in TAB betting.
The Tuncurry-Forster Jockey Club, built on decades of dedication by volunteers, continues to evolve from its humble beginnings in 1980 to a vibrant racing venue. While milestones like the 2008 licence to host race meetings marked significant achievements, the club’s vision remains focused on the future.
Plans to complete the venue include 20 additional horse tie-ups, sealing the road, constructing a caller’s tower with amenities, adding a kitchen, boardroom, day office, members’ bar, and tiered seating to enhance patron comfort. These improvements will ensure the club can host successful race meetings, benefiting the community, the sport of racing, and honouring the remarkable efforts of those who built it.
The Tuncurry-Forster Driving Range offers a family-friendly environment, and the main aim is to provide an activity that the whole family can enjoy together.
Join the kids in the Water Golf challenge and then put on your game face while you go about the serious business of getting the perfect golf shot sorted.
Our committee consists of a dedicated team of racing enthusiasts who continue to strive to improve the layout and facilities at the club. They organise and host a variety of exciting events throughout the year including our general race days.
